Pizza Express - A Fine Dining Place

This Easter we decided to treat ourselves at Pizza Express which had an Easter Special offer for couples. So, we booked our tables and were waiting for the Sunday to arrive; and there it arrived.

We booked our tables at Colaba outlet as the offer was only available at Colaba and Andheri (West); not at the Thane outlet. Yes, they have three outlets in the city. When we arrived there, we found that our bookings was just a waste as the place was quite big but we still did as we were asked to do so and also because we didn't want to miss on the offer.

The restaurant is very well designed. We got the table next to their open kitchen. Yes, they have an open kitchen where you can see men at work. However, I really don't like open kitchen unless the staffs are very proficient at their work. You know what I mean!

According to the offer, one could choose any appetizer and pizza from the menu while there were preset options for pasta and dessert; all for Rs. 1495 + Taxes. In appetizers we opted for dough balls with three different dips; they were pesto dip, pesto rosso and garlic butter. All the three dips were very fresh and of best taste. The dough balls were warm and felt like just baked in the oven. Just loved it!

We ordered Soho Pizza which was very tasty and crust was perfectly cooked. In Pasta we selected Penne Siciliana from the options. I felt the sauce was too much and spoiled the taste to certain extent but was still edible. While for dessert, we asked for a Mango cheesecake which was served with ice-cream and was a complete turn off. It didn’t have hint of cheese or mango at all. Mango flavor could be felt only if the tiny pieces or slice of Mangoes came in the bite.

Pasta on my plate!

The staff is friendly and well acquainted with the ingredients of every dish. I would have appreciated if they changed our plates after we had pasta as the plates were spoiled with sauces. They also need to keep in mind that serving water in India is very important. I found the cutlery complimenting the dress code of the staff and the interiors; for which I give them extra brownie points.

Pizza & Wine; Sounds so perfect!
I found Pizza Express a complete ‘one time visit’ restaurant. However, it’s one of the finest dining place if you wish to take your loved one out on a date.
